Suburban Astroimaging - The Carlingford Deep Field

Well, deep for me.

Taken with a 72mm Evostar scope and ZWO 294MC camera using a Celestron 6SE Alt-Az mount and SharpCap Pro live stack. Hope I labelled it correctly. So many galaxies.

I've been deep sky imaging with my platform and 12 inch Dob for a while now and thought I would give this new set up a go. It is very portable and I hope to travel away from the city lights to see what I can achieve.

There is an article in the latest BBC Sky at Night magazine about deep sky imaging using an Alt-Az mount.

Great result, Richard. Darker skies away from Sydney should let you go quite a bit deeper.

Out of interest what exposure and gain were you using and how long was the stack?

Hi Steve,

Gain 425, 5sec subs and 6.5 minutes of stacking. I also automatically subtract the dark frames.

Richard.

Very cool. Wide galaxy fields are some of my favourite images. Thanks for sharing.
