Jupiter - May 11 - Canberra

Seeing not too bad tonight. I'd put it around 6/10.

The problem was the transparency. 3/10, mostly due to 96% humidity.

Still, I captured 24 AVIs.

Here's one of the earliest from the night. Just a quick run through Registax 4.

GRS is just begin to transit at the limb. Some nice rifts visible in the NEB. A few white oval transiting the CM at NEBn.

Will check the rest out tomorrow.

Not too bad matt, hope you got some better stuff later on. The lack of transparency really kills the dynamic range.

We had clouds and rain all night, but when I got in the car at 5am, the sky was crystal clear!

good stuff Matt, glad someone is getting clear skies in the Eastern states as there has defenitely been a lack of Jupiter images just a few weeks from opposition.

Thanks Ice and JK...

Last night was really a test run for tonight, which I predict will be a much better night/morning.

Seeing was quite variable last night, with Jove doing the Big Ol' Jelly Dance on the lappy screen.

Suppose we can't expect too much heading into winter

But tonight...definitely. Pretty cool knowing all us planetary folk will be out there at the same time having a red hot go!!

You too, Ric.

I forgot to mention my IIS beanie arrived during the week.

I'm going to wear it tonight while I'm imaging.... for luck

So that's what's happened to the seeing in Tassie.

It's hard to see when you've got tears in your eyes!!!!

Nice, makes my baked beans look a bit sick.
Given the Clouds and the jetstream I'll just crawl into my bottle of Brown Brothers Dolcetto & Syrah
