Suggestions please...

So if someone can suggest a tempting target I could probably have a go with the RASA tonight...but I am thinking just a HA filter ... East South East ... any ideas ?..make it sound really good as YouTube is calling ...but I am out of crumpets ..if I had crumpets I would not consider opening up....

I need something to get me away from the Jan 6 stuff on youtube ...yes I know they could do with my help but I selfishly want some me time...

Ideas please.

Alex

Have a go at NGC 6188 to include the dragons egg.

Thank you Glenn that is a great object..I did one years back and it is on my phone start up page and yet I did not think about it..I do remember the HA back then blew me away.

Great suggestion.

I have had my evening meal and am about to check the sky and happily it is rather warm at 11 degrees....clouds or no clouds that is the question...

Thanks again truely a great suggestion....

But it will be a high gain night and short exposures as I have a big day tomorrow.

I get a scan that may be real bad news...but one should not worry it can't change a thing.

Edit. The clouds tell me to make it an early night...but one thing is encouraging the dew is near non existent..I will look again later.

Alex

Alec,
Do you have an Iphone? You must have a look at the app Dylan O'Donnell shows in a you-tube here:

I dont have it but it looks like one can explore an area of the night sky and it would help answer your question.

Cheers

Thank you Glen

I have a couple of planetarium apps and programs.

AND I suppose my question was generated by the wide choice we have access to now.

What I like is Skyshafari pro..it is similarlar to the thing Dillion was presenting with decent images of objects..a d I often sit looking at what is available and when..very handy... I actually know my way around pretty well and maybe mislead you somewhat with my earlier statement...nevertheless I do check out regions in the afore mentioned casual manner but have some reasonable expectation to where to find Ha say with the Clouds for example. My point is more to say it always surprises me what Ha shows up... the unwanted clouds are still about ...there is clear patches and if not for tomorrow I would get the 80 mm and do some snaps .... mmmm maybe the 115mm with HA ...but best going to bed and get tomorrow out of the way...

Thank again

Alex

Alex, NGC2736, Herschel's Ray, aka The Pencil Nebula. I have sent you a link to my image of it.
It set tonight at about 12:30am, but would be a good target for you between 7pm and 9pm I would think, or as soon as it is dark enough at your place to start.
