Eta Carina - no coma corrector

I got increasingly frustrated trying to use a coma corrector with a full frame sensor on my 200mm f5 newt. So I chose to try the smaller 4/3rd sensor of my qhy163M without a coma corrector. I believe the stars look almost acceptable.

Looks like youve got plenty if signal there Peter.
What about trying a high quality coma corrector? Coma is still ways more than you want. Maybe some software tools to reduce stars?

Hi Glenn I can use some software tools. But do you have a particular coma corrector in mind?

Hi Kanga,

I can recommend a GPU corrector as being able to flatten the field considerably better than a Baader MPCC for an APS-c sensor on a 200mm f4. I can’t say from experience how well it will correct for a full frame though. Also the stars are overall less boated through GPU unit.

I think you looked at my post regarding coma correctors last week ??
I use 6” to 10” newts with APS-C sensor sizes at f5 to f6
Used various coma correctors over the years , settled on the Baader MPCC Mk3 back in 2019. It never quite did the job properly, always coma in the corners
Diego at Sidereal in Melbourne suggested I buy the TS Optics GPU 4 element coma corrector and it solved all my issues, round stars to edge of frame
Certainly my recommendation
