I'd love an orrery, but this one is a con job. I've seen this sort of thing before. Free worldwide shipping lol. I think their game is to make you wait for as long as they say shipping will take, and then clear their PayPal account and disappear with the cash before the first legit complaints are made. There was one of these scams going on 6 months ago for musical instruments. One of my friends tried it on and PayPal eventually refunded his money.

Twelve sided hardwood base, oak or walnut.
Clockwork mechanism comprised of solid brass gears
The Sun, 9 planets and 28 moons can be your choice of beautiful semi-precious stone spheres or brass and hematite.

All for $61 AUD ... yeah right but jeez I wanted it to be true

Yep, that is where I saw it.

I haven't come across an Orrery below $1000.

I remember years ago you could build your own via a magazine

https://en-us.eaglemoss.com/die-cast...-system/orrery
I think there was around 20 issues the first issue being the cheapest as an introduction. I think the final total cost worked out around the $2000 mark.

There is another scam where they advertise some really keenly priced item like this, then a 50c pair of sunglasses arrive. You complain and they apologise and offer you a 30% discount to keep the glasses.

The scam is to get you to agree to pay $40 for a 50c pair of sunnies.

Don't touch it.

Joe

It's a drop shipping item off Ali Express. If you want one go to Ali Express direct, search and filter by most sold and then check out the reviews below. No sales or no reviews don't touch it (any item for that matter). I used to have a drop shipping site, so I have a matter of knowledge on the subject. I also search the web site selling. Drop Shippers 100%. I'd leave this one alone. Another way of checking is to do a google reverse picture search. Heaps of YouTube vids can show you how to do it. If it walks like duck and quacks like a duck.......then????????? It's gotta be made in China.

Here's the orrery that the scam site is supposedly selling (it's an etsy link and is long - so I've embedded it here for anyone interested). Quite the difference in price hahaha

Not a scam, its available for under $30 from China on aliexpress, just someone buying cheap and doubling the price to sell local, common practice. Quality though is the scam its not going to be as good as you hope, also standard for AliExpress, but i have no doubt it will work and will look much like the photo, not totally different but real solid brass? Maybe but more likely plated plastic and plastic gears. Wont have the feel of a german engineered orrery or swiss clock. Even my 2ft tall full metal brass orrery wasn't real brass, the arms are brass plated copper and is smooth quiet rotation but this one i guess you’ll hear it, but it will look like the photo and you will receive it. Pretty sick of people assuming for sales are scams or people responding to their own for sale ads are just scammers too. Do you all tell your local bakers their bread is a scamm too? Grow up people and learn for yourself.

Take a close read of the Kiou Mall ad and then compare it to the Etsy website ad. Clearly the former is a rip off of the latter. If you order the product from Kiou Mail and get the Aliexpress item then what you have received is not as what was described, hence the Kiou Mail ad is fraudulent and can rightly be called a scam.

There is no question on what is on offer from Aliexpress. Their ad doesn't make wild claims about the items construction and use someone else's ad photo. You can see the Aliexpress item is a $26 item

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004014877327.html

So, how about you take your own advice and grow up. That Baker Bread comparison was just plain ridiculous.

Thanks Hans, clearly the two items are literally "worlds apart." The scam is passing a $30 item off as a $3000 one.
