Can I Send a You Tube Video to my TV From my Computer
Good morning to all.
I have found a You Tube video that i really like, and was wondering is it possible to send it to my TV from the Computer.
Or can I copy it and load it to a USB Drive and plug it into the TV.
Or is there any other way to do this please.
I am not up with all this smart TV stuff, so please be gentle
If you have a smart TV and WIFI, you can connect your TV to your wifi and use the YouTube App on your TV to view it directly.
If you have a laptop, you could use a HDMI cable from the laptop to make the TV a second screen of the laptop and view it that way.
Otherwise, you may be able to copy the video to a USB drive and plug it into the TV. The problem here may be copyright - you may not be allowed to save the video. There are video downloader apps for this, but I would not recommend piracy (and neither does IIS!).
If you can get your TV to talk to wifi, that's your best option - so much more stuff legally available than just YouTube as well.

Hi Leon. You should be able to connect to your TV using Bluetooth as well. Enable Bluetooth on your TV and computer and they should pick each other up. Just do a google search on connecting computer to TV using Bluetooth and there are plenty of "how to's".

You can convert any TV to a smart TV with Amazon Fire TV. Cheapest one works fine unless you want volume control or 4K. (You can always use volume control on your TV remote).
The Lite version was $35 and the 4K version was $59 (sales) recently. Wait for the next sale if you prefer.
There are other devices on the market but the Amazon one has no subscription to the basic Apps (YouTube included). If you want basic subscription to some movies, music, free delivery for purchases it is $6.99/month with first month free but this is not required to use the Fire TV. We have three in the house for older TVs (some older smart but no longer support the YouTube app which Fire TV fixed).
Thank you indeed guys, yes we do have a Smart TV as they call it, and Alice has just set it up last month to get Netflix, so we can actually look at lots of stuff.
However I am not really into it and rarely to never use it

if it's a smart tv then it probably has a browser and usually a youtube app, so you don't need to copy anything, just fire up the browser/youtube on the tv and type in the youtube url/video name in the search box.
An easier way is to mirror your phone, this works fine for samsung android phone and samsung tv's. Then whatever you see on the phone you will see on the tv.

Wow thank you indeed, sounds like a plan, and mate about the last part of your answer about mirroring phones etc, well we wont go there. im lost even thinking about it
If the TV uses the Android operating system (and some other Smart TV OS - but support varies), it is really easy - just call up the video on your phone / tablet / computer, and then click the "Cast" icon (a rectangle with a sort of WiFi symbol in the bottom left corner); select your TV from the list of devices that is presented as the target, and the video will play on the TV.
Julian, I have an IPhone 4 it serves me well, I don't have and do not want an I Pad or a new phone for that matter and my Computer is a Secondhand Desktop.
Don't get me wrong, all that i have serves me very well and I am happy not to have all that is available.
So mate all the suggestions you gave me and thank you very much for it are just not on, I am to old to care really.
Another option is to connect via HDMI if the PC has HDMI out. Your tv is then treated as just another PC monitor. But as stated above, most smart tv's have youtube on them, easiest way.
Don't get me wrong, all that i have serves me very well and I am happy not to have all that is available.

Just so you know - it's easier than you probably think, and you shouldn't need any new hardware or software.
Step 1: With the chosen YouTube video playing in your PC browser, move your mouse, and click on the "Cast" icon at the bottom right of the video player screen. (The words "Play on TV" should pop up when you get close to the "Cast" icon.)
Step 2: This should pop up a list of "cast-enabled" devices on your network - including (hopefully) your Smart TV. Click on the TV, and the video will start playing on the TV. (My TV is a Sony KD-75X7800F - what you see in your list will depend on what devices it recognises on your network.)

The best thing about Amazon Fire TV is that when watching movies on Netflix or Amazon Prime on a stereo TV, you can go into the Audio settings and select Voice Enhancement - something not available on other smart boxes I've had.
Suddenly, one can more easily hear what people are saying in all the movies with 5.1 audio. Before I had to use a soundbar to hear what they were saying.
