Trifid 7 May

Well last night the galaxy shooting was a complete disaster. Went for M83 and took nearly 40 minutes worth and this was still not enough signal to get a good image. Plus Dew started forming on the corrector plate and the wind was no help either.

So in desperation I used the ED80 to image the Trifid. Had some guiding errors for some reason, but still very happy with the image. The image is a combination of exposures amounting to 34 minutes.

Comments welcome

Beautiful Paul, I like the widefield the best. ED 80 guide scope? Looks like a wonderful imaging scope as well.

Yeah the ED lately has been my patience saver. It is more forgiving of guide errors and does a good job of imaging. I have been really pleased with its performance and would recommend it to anyone as a imaging scope. Added to this is the fact that it is really easy to focus. No need to use a hartman mask, at focus if produces its own diffraction spikes to my eye. You might also like to look at the Lagoon I took on Friday night, this was also done with the ED.

I am now being tempted to maybe get a refractor as my primary imaging scope. Maybe a Tak. But have to pay for the shack over on Yorks first.
