Swan song....

A quickie QHY600 shot with the Alluna....
I found it interesting how the higher 3.67 micron pixel sampling has revealed a little more filigree structure compared to my 9 micron pixel camera.

Some RGB would finish it off nicely but for the weather...

You know what, I'd just leave it in B+W - details look fantastic and it's really pretty as is.

Ta...I am partial to a good B&W rendition, but I suspect the decision to leave it alone will be made for me with the current lunar and weather cycle

Thanks Marc. About 10 days ago. The seeing was pretty good and the lack of halos with the AstroDons gave the raw data some real "pop".
Interestingly with a brighter target, low level CMOS noise all but disappeared.
Horses for courses I suspect!

Peter,
Super clean image of M17 with pin point stars and a resolution I can only dream of with my little humble rig
To be honest I prefer to view a really good clean luminance or mono version especially when it’s a nice bright emission nebula
Well done indeed !!

Thanks guys, The QHY makes it much easier to get within the backfocus of the AFFR...a sublime piece of glass...
but not overly generous in its backfocus, hence I've not used it much with previous imaging.

It turns my 16" F8 into a 16" F6 hence a 40 minute session returns very clean data. Also with a 100mm instrument fitting there is simply no sag or tilt.
Star profiles are pristine to they very edge of the IMX455 field... a sensor that takes no prisoners in that regard...so I'm pretty happy with the result

Makes sense. I was wondering how it could be so sharp. Unless you were using an out of this world AO.

Another great image Peter, excellent fine detail, I often prefer B&W images, I feel the fine details more emphasized in BW , your image has a 3D feel to it.

I cant see any joined stars from decon or min filter, this is strange, given the sharpness, did you cheat some other way or not ? . Kidding, awesome

You know the Alluna is German? A true anecdote: I had to send a secondary (not mine) back to the factory for re-coating. For the life of me I could not find an index mark to re-align the primary and secondary for when it came back

I asked Alluna about this. They either thought I was nuts or disrespectful.
Our optics have no asymmetry! We do zeez things correctly!

Thanks guys...The design apparently delivers 5 micron polychromatic spot
sizes across a 65mm field....not bad for a 16"
