EQ6 plus EQ5 problems.

My EQ6, old black Skywatcher would not work. Appears to be a stripped Gear as another gentleman said it was moving back and fourth.

Trying to run it with a Argo Navis and basic hand controller.

AS I do have a Skyveiw Pro EQ5 with motors added, and no hand controller, would like to get Kkywatcher hand controller for the EQ6, and hopefully can put the Argo Navis onto the EQ5. Will have to work out if that can be done.

The Sky Veiw Pro only cost me $70 with control cables, so was not worried to much about its hand controller being missing. It was a deceased estate, the C8 on it had been sold, but I also got the C8 finder -- see my other thread. So what should I do ?

It may just be that the grub screw holding the drive gear to the motor shaft has come loose.
Is it an Go To EQ6 or non Go To, not sure if an Argo Navis set up would work with EQ mounts, (would have to be polar aligned first), as it is a Push To digital readout of RA & Dec. How have you attached the Encoders to the EQ mount.
Gary will hopefully read this and enlighten us of the suitability and if it can be done.

I purchased this Skywatcher Black GOTO EQ6 with the Argo Narvis. Cost me $200 plus a Marklin 3 rail train set that I was advertising on Gumtree for $290--, but would have accepted $200 for that train set -- It was not selling on gumtree -- set was given to me.

Was very broke, only had $95, but a stranger gentle man donated a $100 towards my planned Astronomy in the Bible program. Then down in Sydney purchased a package of Eyepieces from a ISS member, for $170. But next day he contacted me and gave me back $190, which is more than I paid him. That gave me the money to hitch from near QLD border to Melbourne with the Trainset, get that mount and hitch home. So many things like that happened to me.

It is an early black skywatcher EQ6.

With a port for a hand controller built in to its side. As well as a port for the power supply, which is 8 D--cell batteries. I also had a Dick Smith Power supply included, but do not want people to trip over cords in the dark, so use batteries.

Would have preferred the original Skywatcher Hand Controller to the Argo Narvis, but at that price will never ever complain.

Got no tripod with it. It is currently used on a Surveyors Tripod, turned u anadaptor on the mens shed lathe, but got kicked out as I am unvaccinated. Have Skywatcher tripod with no top that I purchased from ISS Ads. -- been advertising for a top, so I can use it on that one, instead of the surveyors tripod.

But its price was very good.

the degrees scale on it fell off, so have to guess where to set the attitude. when I get the Skywatcher tripod top, will try to superglue that back on. Have to level the mount first, so I know where to place that.

It is a GOTO EQ6.

It has the Eyepiece of the Polar scope there, but not sure about the other end of a polar scope. Where I used it last night, should not see the south celestial pole, so used a good Japanese compass, to get south. May have to photograph it next week, but never able to put photos on this forum.
