Lunar Guides

I notice that Steve Massey has now published a guide to the Moon. I haven't seen this (if someone wants to give me a review copy I won't object), but I recently came across an excellent introduction and guide to the Moon.

"Discover the Moon" by Lacroux and LeGrand is an excellent little book that covers the major features visible night by night. Major craters and walled plains, seas and bays, mountains and rilles, domes and rays are all identified. It is relatively cheap (about $US10 on amazon) and best of all contains maps not only for Newtonian views but also mirror reversed for the SCT owner. All in all an excellent guide and good value for money.

It will never replace Rukl's Atlas of the Moon, which has recently been reprinted, as it does no go into that level of detail.

Highly recommended.

I've got Steve Massey's book (got it for my birthday) but have barely turned the cover yet.. one day i'll get some time to actually sit down and read it and plan an lunar observing session.

I'll also do a review of it for those interested. For $20 it's a damn cheap buy too.
