Cool The contingency plan for Mars Curiosity Rover to shed its own wheels if need be

In a 12th May 2021 article at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics
Engineers (IEEE) Spectrum magazine web site, Evan Ackerman reports
in detail on the wheel wear on the Curiosity Rover and the planning by
JPL’s Wheel Wear Tiger Team involving Curiosity finding a nice sharp
rock and using it to rip out the insides of one or more of its wheels if
the need should ever arise in order to stay mobile.
