Jupiter 7th April - final

Ok, here is my final LRGB from the other morning.
I feel it is a success in terms of procedures
  1. Letting the scope cool naturally to roughly 1 to 2 degrees above ambient and then turning on the peltier cooling system. This stops primary mirror dew as my dew points are very close to ambient at the moment. My cooling system was colling the mirror close to 3 degrees under ambient.
  2. With the above, I am getting full histograms for L @ 30fps (actual aprox 26fps), RGB @ 15fps. I may have to blast the secondary with a hair dryer every now and then to kill the dew and ice, but that is quite easy to do down the focusser.
  3. Imaging without the extension tube has made stability more manageable during manual filter changes.
  4. Whilst there is not enough initial image scale for my liking, the 1.5 upscale in ninox is giving satisfactory results in registax. The final image is of a nice size, given the focal length of the scope. The 12 bit or 16 bit ability of the lu075m and resultant fits mean i have a very good range of greyscale for resolution of data.
Now just need the seeing to pull it all together and then next Joop season, bigger mirror and longer focal length

Good going Dave, despite the poor seeing looks like you have some interesting tecniques that you are using that will pay dividents.

p.s. yep, depending on the individual mirror spec, OMI Torus mirrors can be excellent, expensive though but a very good investment long term.
