Going Fishing this weekend.

Hey guy's and gal's.
I'm going away fishing and camping this weekend, probably staying at "Jacob's Well" just north of the Gold coast.
Does anyone know the best fishing spots in the area? we can go offshore in my mates boat. (26 foot powerboat with 130 HP motor, and epirb).
We don't have GPS.

Mike.

The sand flies had a great weekend.

Wow, what a weekend, here I am covered in really itchy sand fly bites.
I took the day off work, with an allergic reaction to the bites or the anti-histamines.
I've got more lumps than a Phrenologists convention.

1 fish, and a tiny one at that. a Butter Bream 10Cm long.
Lost a $15 lure while trolling. The (40lb) line broke.
I did see a monster fish, a young lad next to me hooked something about a metre long and as thick as my arm, but it threw the hook just as he was pulling it out. From my brief glance, it looked like a Barracuda or a school mackerel, It was 4 in the morning and pretty dark.
Yes, I was sober.

Maybe I should stick to Astronomy.

Mike.

Sounds like you had fun mate, that's what it's all about

Btw, you threw a wobbly at me with phrenologist, so had to look it up, and for the sake of others reading this thread who just have to know the meaning of every word they encounter, here it is: People who study the conformation of the skull based on the belief that it is indicative of mental faculties and character.

Next time, use DEET based mossie sprays. And, better fishing in the Mackay region

Bobj.
I used some stuff called "Bushman", supposedly developed for FNQ. It was recommended by a Chemist.
It said on the can that it was proof against mossies, sand flies, midges and all manner of biting insects.
The sand flies can't read though.

Ron,
Sorry about the Phrenologist thing.
I was going to say "more lumps than a school dinner ladies gravy"
Would that have been better?

That's bad news Mike, maybe the claim was for the can not it's contents...,
I'll make up for it over easter, HRH and myself are off to the coast, we usually catch heaps of flathead, hopefully this time we can stock up for the next few months.
