Coma corrector

Purchased a GSO 2" coma corrector for my GSO 10" newt but got more coma than without on the right side of the image- do you place the coma corrector so its closer to the camera lens or closer to the secondary, otherwise what are the requirements for placement of the coma corrector, or thirdly are the GSO coma correctors just a bad coma corrector

Hi Trevor, if one side is worse than the other, I'm guessing that you have tilt in your optical train.

I'm also considering using one of these with my 10" Newt, Does anybody know/have instructions for optimal spacing to the camera sensor?

Question did the newer batch of 10" newts have the secondary container reinforced as I remember reading about flex issues with the first batch of these Newts

Hi Trevor I too found there was quite a bit of coma using the GSO 2" CC (I have a 8" f4). I just purchased a Skywatcher Aplanatic CC which is supposed to be much better. Waiting for the clouds to disappear so I can test out

I will retry without to see if it was the coma corrector causing the problem if so I will see if I can return it for a credit to Andrews

I know with my GSO coma corrector the elements inside weren't seated correctly and it was giving me strange issues that looked like tilt. I losened the retaining ring and tapped it on the table to fix it. You might want to consider holding on to it, the 80mm backfocus makes it pretty good for correcting eyepieces.
