Saturn March 26th, 2007

Finally got around to processing some Saturn AVI's from earlier on in the week which were captured whilst I played around with DP's prototype peltier cooler for my scope. Mirror close to ambient.

R & G channels from one avi and then B channel from another (see sep thread - had funny things going on the B channel - likely from eletrical interference).

300 frames R, G, B processed and 1.3 x resampled.

Inner Crepe ring nicely visible, a very slight hint of Enche's gap was just visible in the green channel.

Nice effect of the shadow hitting the rings.

Always a tough object when it's low for us Southerners.

Nice image, John, at a good scale. Good banding detail on the globe and I like the way you can see the planet's disk showing through the Cassini division at front left.
