I don't quite understand the problem or what you're asking... but 5x on a 14" LX 200! are you nuts!

(ok, I'm nuts too, I attempt insain things with my lx200 too...)

But 5x is asking a little much of that long focal length. 30sec is short tho.. It'd be easier to compare if I knew how much drift over 30 sec at F/10.

Roger.

Yeah Im totally Nuts,, but, I have established it is error on RA, Is this where PEC training comes in, Ive got a very stable follow the crosshairs in dec, but Ra is in front the behind then in front again, with no apparent frequency...

I want to get this set up as good as it can be, While seeing is still a bit hazy ,

Any help appreciated...

Roger Ok , I fugured out that some flexure in the piggy mount threw off the 14" because I drifted on the piggy, but after drifting on the 14" the results are in the prior post, just what is acceptible the pic of the Dog star is , in my opinion showing me something that is not right,,, is it not...

Cheers matey

If it's PE, you should be able to correct for almost all of it using PE correction. I typically run 3 - 5 PE training runs on my LX200 classic, and after that PE is almost not noticable at about 2 arc seconds of drift (about 2 pixels in my camera). That's considered very good, getting it to that level.

If the error is in RA then there's a good chance it's PE. Polar alignment can account for some drift in RA also but that would be constant. I wouldn't expect flexure to have much impact over the short durations you'd typically use for testing drift alignment ( 5 - 10 minute increments ), I've always found flexure is only a problem over long periods of time/movement.

Try some PE training runs and see if you can improve it.

Ultimately with the focal length of LX200's you need to autoguide, I have found, even with 2 arc seconds of PE.

Thanks Roger

Working on it now, Im think Im getting somewhere, No drift aside from RA in the little square on a 9mm x 5 over 5 minutes,,I think I can asume it is aligned properly, a bit of PEC training, should nail it I think...

Cheers for the guidance,,,No pun intended,,,
