Some shots from Astro Camp

Hi all,

Some shots from Astro Camp. Not particularly stunning, but it's been a long time since I did much serious landscape photography. I really enjoyed having the opportunity to do a little.

Landscape tree & view... I used a grad filter for this one, to balance the brightness somewhat between sky & white tree vs darker bottom right 3rd of the image. Looking at it now, I wish I'd tweaked the levels some more, oh well..

Portrait tree... grad filte rused again..

Quick snap of gumleaves, not really good, but something..

And the whole group of astro camp shots:

It was h0ughy, a great success. Lots of people (30+ scopes), populated the field quite nicely. Good viewing conditions both nights except for after 11pm on Saturday night when a storm rolled in and stopped as it got to us, but still clouded it out.

Still a little warm for my tastes but you can't have everything

A very enjoyable weekend in all.

Looks like a great site Roger. The trees don't look too intrusive and there is plenty of flat ground. I'll bet it was dark as well

Yeah, there is plenty of flat ground, the observing field is quite large. And the tree's aren't a problem, they are lower than they look when it get dark The line of trees shown are also the tallest/closest, to the east, with the north, south and west being very close to flat.

You can see the glow of Perth to the north-west from this site. It's not a large problem but would prevent wide field photography in the low to mid north through west of the sky due to gradients. It is 2 hours drive from the city, but you know what it's like with light pollution and how far it spreads. When I started going to the Astro Camp about 14 camps ago, you couldn't see Perth at all.

I see I've messed up another one of the photo's .. the 'View' one isn't coming up with the right photo.. damn thing, couldn't get it right this time :-( .. I'll sort it out tonight.
