Rant

After placing an order for a Lightbridge 10 at a shop down the coast, I have to wonder what is going on with Meade. The shop has been extremely good, and their hands have been tied. They have not been able to get supply of a 10 Lights since before Xmas. They have now resorted to importing direct from Taiwan, just to get stock.
I was nearly going to cancel my longstanding order, the only thing keeping me from doing so is the very good supportive staff.
Meade, get you're act together. Two of my mates have already changed their minds about following in my footsteps with LB's. They have both bought GS's, and extremely happy with them they are too. Yes, they don't have the portability, but they do have a few hundred in change. Not to mention the very same optics.

I know what you mean. I'm in the same boat waiting for a solarmax filter from Coronado (now owned by Meade) to go onto my PST. I've been waiting since before Xmas.

Hmmm, is this a trend developing, or just my Paranoia showing through. You can't buy Meade from the States because Meade prohibits it. So you make friends over there (always have been great to me with my other hobbies anyhow), or simply wait it out. It would be nice to be able to buy the meade Backpack Observatory for the same price (after conversion of course), as they can in the States. Let's face it, it is a shorter distance to ship from Taiwan to here than to the States anyway. Yet somehow, not only does the pack never become available here, but do the math and price out everything if you have to buy it here. Sobering isn't it???

Should just mention that my Rant has mellowed to a low grumble.Naturally I will of course still be buying the LB, and will love it, because it is a fantastic scope. My mates will probably wish they had stuck it out. Guess I'm stubborn. Thanks for that Dad!I simply wish that all their products could be made available globally, and at a sane pricing level. That being said, should also mention that the LB is quite competitively priced against the Greenback over this side of the Pond. Just a few very obvious anomolies in their line up.It would be nice if Meade could also support their Australian outlets, after all, we have perhaps more than our fair share of perfect skies.I realise we must account for a tiny share of their global profit, but still, we are here.
