Meade DSI camera for webcasting?

I am looking for comments from anyone who has used a Meade DSI camera to webcast onto the internet. I do occassional webcasting (the Moon mainly) using a Phillips webcam and that works well.

I would like to go to fainter objects (Orion nebula / Omega Centauri / minor planet flyby). The Meade site says that the DSI camera can be used in a similiar way. Does anyone have experience in doing this.

Thanks,

Paul Floyd. www.paulfloyd.id.au

Hi Paul
to IIS! I've visited your site many times.

I don't have any experience in doing what you're suggesting, but I can't see why it wouldn't work.. with the longer exposures I guess it would just be longer times between frames being updated.

I look forward to seeing whether it works for you!

Paul

I guess by the number of responses that no one is really sure. If you are condsidering live webcasting, you might want to consider one of these

I'm not sure if it comes in colour though

Bugger! I was hoping that someone here might have tried it. I don't own a DSI. The Meade site said it can be used for this purpose. I have asked the same question on a Yahoo Meade DSI site and got no response.

Don't hold your breath. I am going to have to save my cents before I get to buy any new gadgets. Canberra is such an expensive place to live... it will be a while.

Paul.
