Nice image Tim. Plenty of the outer lying nebulous dust showing up too. A timely post as well, considering I shot the same object two nights earlier with the same scope. The difference being mine were shot with a DSLR and about one eighth of your total data! I also wanted to see if introducing a telextender would capture more detail. I guess for a fair comparison, I really need to give it a good 2hrs + to really know if the extra effort is worth it. I obviously have more detail in the core but that's only because less light was coming through the scope.

It's a great galaxy to photograph and you've captured it well. Did you do this in one night or over several nights?

Tim
Well captured and processed
I like the colour of the spirals
What gain setting did you use for 180sec exposures on the 071 ?

Thanks

I took all the light frames in one session - about 4 hours.

I use 100 gain on the camera.
