After all this time i've never imaged the moon other than the odd single frame.
Last night while waiting for the eagle to rise to do some Ha imaging the moon was really crisp.
Tried various stacking programs but ended up using Registax.
Another program, another learning curve.
Normally I use Cr2 raw files out of Backyard EOS but Registax doesn't accept canon Raw so had to find another program to convert to jpeg.
Processing is quite different and not really sure how to use wavelets properly.
Pretty happy with the result except the circumference is a bit digitised.
A little over processed.
75 x 1/800 second at 100 ISO

It's extremely difficult to get the exposure right so that certain parts of the moon don't blow out. To be honest I found the only way to really get the best out if imaging is a raw video and process that, but some other iis members have had great success utilising the method you have adopted. Either way you have made a great image, just need to control the bits that blew out.

That’s a really nice lunar image , good contrast and detail
For lunar and planetary imaging I capture in BYEOS, then stack in Autostakkert 3 then sharpen in Registax
Most seasoned guys would recommend Autostakkert in lieu of Registax for stacking AVI files
Maybe give it a try if you want to get more serious into planetary imaging
From this result I recommend you have a go at some planets during the winter

For a first go, I'd say you've done a great job. A tip for removing the white line around the circumference in Registax is to use the de-ringing feature under the 'Denoise, Deringing' tab. Uncheck the 'Dark side' box and check the 'Bright side' box. Adjust the slider to reduce the bright fringing around the edge.

I looked at autostakkert and it looked good Martin so I Might give it a go.
I saw that deringing tab in registax Mickael so thats another thing to learn.
My Canon doesn't have video capture but I think there is a way in Backyard EOS to capture video.
My guide camera uses a ZWO ASI 120 MC-S so I could use this for Planetary and also my little C90 Mak has more power so for bright objects this setup might be better.
Here we go down the rabbit hole again.

BYEOS as a planetary mode which records your capture as both AVI + jpeg
Also has a great frame and focus window plus heaps of settings in the capture plan
The perfect software for DSLRs both DSO and planetary ( I think it will work on cameras going back to 2004 ? )

Thanks for that Martin. Ive been using backyardEOS for a fair while and i've never seen that "Hidden" planetary button.
I might actually go back and read the manual not just the first few pages like I normally do.
