Eta IR blend

I had a really good time imaging a couple of hours on Eta last night and a bit of Rosette. Warm night with decent transparency, no wind, so so seeing and loads of mozzies. Gear thankfully worked alright out of the box and I had no major problem but for poor polar alignment. I go too excited and wanted to get into it straight away. Withdrawal symptoms and cutting (small) corners.

So this is 2h in IR in 5min subs with the old Q and a QHY9 @-20c.
I did a blend with a Sii channel I had so that's IR SiiIR Sii. That's the palette that gives the most pleasing colors. I need to find a LUM. LUM will overlap IR a little. Sii cuts off well before 700nm and IR kicks in at 700nm onwards so there's no clear overlap.

I did the registration in Prometheus and stacking in CCD Stack. Blended the channels in PS.

There's a full frame 1:1 here [3073x2155 - 5.6MB]
HD version here [1920x1346 - 3MB]

Enjoy the views.

IR-SII is an unusual experiment. Experiments are good. Bravo!

The infrared gives the most tiny, pinpoint stars.

Nice one Marc, can't say that I've seen that combination of filters on this common target. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks mate. Pretty colors, more stars revealed usually obscured by dust and other stuff, and slightly different shapes and structures.

Some are tiny or the same sizes while others that are relatively small just blow out in IR.

Thanks Lee. Usually I use a LUM but got to dig one done with the FSQ.

Great vista as always!
