Too much horsing around

A noisey Horsehead nebula through Melbourne's muck last night. I really struggled processing this one, after shooting through light pollution, haze, high cloud and smoke, I tried to get as much as I could out of the subs I took. I don't know why I bothered really, thinking about it now, it was even warm and as Elliot had pointed out in his post, the sky was quite bright like the moon was up.

Anyway, it is what it is, you win some, you lose some and I lost last night. Just thought I'd share my end result - not one of my best efforts but you can recognise the subject.

Modded canon 550d, SW Esprit 100, Heq5pro mount, 70 x 1 minute unguided subs 800/1600 iso.

I looked outside last night and saw a few stars and for the briefest of moments considered setting up. After that brief moment I realised what the skies were like, I’m surprised you were even able to get what you did!

Getting anything from last night is pretty amazing

Thanks for your comments Colin, you are a wiser man than me! By the way, I forgot to mention the mosquitoes! With the heat we've been having, without cooled cameras, even though there has been clear nights, is a waste of time trying. You can only do so much to control noise using a dslr.

Gee, is it that obvious? I better stop then, I get enough flak from my kids about it let alone the general public. Sorry Jon, it comes from being a dad. Puns and poor jokes are part of the package!

I was going to pull out the 'dad joke' line but didn't want to use that as an excuse!
