EQ6/ED80 1st night out

Finally! FINALLY!!!!

A night when the weather is good enough to finally try my new EQ6 for astrophotography!

I have only used the EQ6 twice for visual and had to pack up early due to weather, but tonight is all go.

EQ6, Synscan, Saxon ED80, Modified Toucam 840k Pro II, Orion Accufocus, 80mm achro guidescope (no guiding cable yet) and full moon!

I hope it works out well. Just waiting for dark so I can polar align.

I will post my pics in here tonight. Wish me luck

Go Ken! I like the set-up. What are you planning to image?

May the gods smile kindly...

he is just trying to work out where the camrea connects to, he has that many devices on the mount, he may have got lost trying to find it

Cool EQ6/ED80 1st night out

Nice setup Ken
was in at Bintel Melb earlier in the week
they had a EQ6set-up all alone
Tis a heavy beast alright
perfect stable platform for a pick up and go set up like yours

Well,
typical for us Astro-heads! As soon as I got polar aligned, in came the cloud and fog!!!!

The Good: The mount and synscan ran faultless, and Toucam was working perfectly.

The Bad: Apart from the fog, I forgot to set the screen resolution in normal mode to 1024x768, then while in Long exposure mode I somehow didn't save the Orion Neb, Omega Cent and Carina shots

All up, all that I ended up with was a 'too small res' Moon pic, and an off centre 47 Tuc

Oh well, I had fun anyway. Just good to know that everything works well. Now for a clear night to try it all again.

1. Small res Moon (normal mode) thru fog
2. Off-centre 47 Tuc (long exposure mode) thru fog

Great start Ken. 47Tuc is very impressive considering you're imaging with a webcam.
