Unhappy No luck with LX repair

Received my LX200 electronics back from BINTEL today. I re-assembed the whole lot tonight and had my brother come over to help put it up on the pier. However, unfortunately the problem is remaining, the NSEW slews do not work while everything else including GOTO does work

Not sure what's going on. Probably have to just buy a service kit. Odd though, they diagnosed the problem and replaced the suspect chip

Not angry, just sad that the problem remains. I was really looking forward to some astrophotography after 7 weeks wait

l had a problem with my Classic a while back and had to replace the motherboard and motor assemblies, they are coded and have to be replaced as a kit.
there were a number of faulty motherboards in these kits, l know because l got one and had to wait ages for another kit from the states.
get the kit checked before you fit it and save a lot of time and frustration.

After ringing BINTEL this morning it seems I mis-understood. I knew they had ordered in a new front panel to fix a problem intermittent fault in the front panel, but I didn't realise the symptoms were similar. Apparently the main board is definitely fine and it's just the new front panel. The front panel is on order from Meade, who knows how long it'll be.

So in the mean time I think it works enough (tracks in RA and has goto) for me to refine my polar alignment and perhaps do some planetary imaging with the webcam.

If it is just the front panel I have to change when it arrives, then at least I won't have to move the scope on the pier, so my alignment in the mean time will be worthwhile.

Good idea.

I presume you mean you have a spare? I wouldn't want to test with someone's primary board, just in case it causes problems to their board.
