An unexpected consequence of bad weather

It had been a long, long time since I had a run of good imaging weather. I mean a LONG time. If it wasn't extreme heat, it was cloud, wind, rain or some other darned thing like equipment problems. The long and the short of it was that I did not manage to complete a sequence for about 2 years. You might get a night here and there but stringing a good LTGB or NB sequence requires time and plenty of it.

But in the past week, we've had some great nights or very cold, dry, calm weather with quite decent seeing so I made the most of it. And I managed to get sequences done of NGC6164/5 and a Globular NGC6397.

But shock and horror, when I sat down to process my treasures, I found that I had forgotten how. All my - admittedly basic - post-processing skills had deserted me. Age and lack of use had consigned my memory to the winds. It's OK. I have my notes and I've been able to regather the threads, but how elusive memory can be.

At least you've got some good data Peter. I find myself forgetting bits and pieces of gear more often than not when going to a dark site now. That's what happens when the frequency of imaging sessions diminishes.
I'm sure the PI aficionados will be able to help you with your processing.

Peter I know the feeling. I am finding myself looking at a lead and thinking "what the heck is this for?"...I put lables on most things to save confusion in the dark. And I have been reasonably regular in attempts as even if cloudy I set up ... however processing is no problem as I am always processing or reprocessing simply to improve and not lose what I have learnt to date.
