Jupiter this morning Feb 18th, 2007

Well I may as well add to the Jupiter images in IIS with my first one, it's not great but a start. With the seeing only being 4/10 and a 2 degree differential in mirror vs ambient it was always going to be tough. 400 frames stacked in Registax 4, SPC900, 5 x Powemate, NGT12.5. (it's good to have Jove back!)

Well done John, I like the colours (although perhaps a tad dim on this screen?) and the detail is there waiting for the seeing to co-operate!

re cooler: photos posted tomorrow, perspex / aluminium cut, perpsex has had peltier modules holes cut, peltiers ready to mount.

I am doing a blog of the assembly. If i get a good go at it, then end of the week i reckon.

Paul Haese completed his testing today and his 4 peltier version for his 18" mirror looks very promising. The computer power supply looks the goods for keep up the current to these babies.

I am still going with a 3 peltier with yours for your 12.5"

Mike, it was at the end of an 8 hr deep sky session and all night nighter, I was way out of it! yes you are right, should have cranked up the gain a bit more.

Dave, can't wait for the cooling unit, with the warm weather it's just always going to be impossible with a full thickness mirror.
