NGC 4594 Sombrero Galaxy

My first image of this magnitude 8 galaxy with the new 8” f5 newt
40 x 5 minute dithered subs ( medium dither every second sub )
20 x darks
ISO800
Canon 600D unmodded (sensor temperature running around 23deg C )
Stacked in DSS
Processed in Startools
Stacked image turned out really clean with good detail
Nice cool night too about 13 deg C which helps the DSLR immensely

That looks good is that with the Bintel gso newt I'm looking at buying one myself and have been trying to find out how they perform

Nice. You can even depict detail in the gas ring.

My only suggestion. Flip the image over for aesthetic reasons. I don't think anyone really cares about its orientation in the end of the day.

Thanks all appreciate the comments and suggestion

Robert , my new scope is the Bintel 8” f5 Newtonian reflector. If you are going to buy one, mention to Don at Bintel to replace the primary mirror springs ( like Martins new scope )

I can thoroughly recommend it for both visual and astrophotography

Cheers

Very clear image. My sombrero is just a fuzzy disc.

Perhaps a fast new newt is the answer.

Thanks Ray

I’ve only had my 8” f5 for a month and so far it’s exceeded my expectations
Last night seeing was pretty good and guiding was running well at my dark location
Since I’ve been “dithering” I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my images and when the outside temp is cool , the DSLR can produce some half descent subs ready for stacking
I use Startools which is fantastic processing software and always produces a reasonable result

Cheers

Great work and a very fine image.

Thanks Alex
I’m extremely grateful to all who have contributed in some way to where I am at the moment with Astronomy after only 3 years with technical and practical advice , criticism, suggestions, encouragement and kind words

Getting back to the image
Sitting at my outdoor workstation, my software found Sombrero in 3 minutes from power up
EQMOD, StellariumScope, Stellarium and BYEOS

If I stood next to the mount and had to use the Synscan handcontroller looking at live view on the back of DSLR camera it would take forever to find it , maybe not at all
Technology !!

Thanks again

Really enjoying AP with my new equipment and the time and money I’ve put into this hobby is paying off which is very rewarding

Still so much more to learn and find up there !
