Galaxy Line Up

I saw a report but dont have the link on this machine and can not remember where I saw it and a search has not helpedbut... it related to studying a number of galaxies and their relationship to "the void"and to each other. It found that he galaxies studied lined up in a particular fashion to the void and in relation to each other .. they appear to line up like buttons on a string. I find this a very interesting discovery and wondered if anyone knows about this relationship and if there is any work being done ..the site I found would be nice to know of course but have you noticed any work at all on this matter.
AND if you do are you prepared to coment on why this may be so.. given the outpour of matter and energy from a spirals center I wonder if there could be a passing of matter or energy between galaxies. I feel knowing more about this situation may throw more light on our understanding but I guess I am missing developments or it has not sparked much interest. Any specualtion on what may be going on and why would be appreciated.

My understanding is that subtle variations in the distribution of energy in the early universe (WMAP, etc) lead to a honeycomb texture of variable densities, with the galaxies lined up along the "walls" with vast caverns of relatively empty space in between. The end result is a rough general orientation of the galaxies in lines and planes, and with a more general facing a particular direction than what you'd expect if the original distribution was completely random.

The short answer is I don't know.

Thanks for that. I gained the impression that there is a line up like buttons on a string which if correct is fascinating. The presumption they would be moving slowly away but it may not be the case and to me it raises the proposition that the voids are expanding or shrinking whilst the line up compresses or they move apart whilst the voids become greater or lesser. But without presuming anything it would be nice to find out where they are with this recent observation. But one thing is for sure understanding this must show something of the nature of and forces at play one would think.
Thanks again

This is not exactly what I had in mind and it seems rather old news but interesting nevertheless.
