Registax question

Here's a quick and easy one (I hope).

When you first open Registax and you are on the Align page, in the Processing section what size do you set?

By default it is set at 512 pixels. Do you leave it at that or increase it to 1024?

Can anyone tell me what this actually does or what effect the number you choose has?

Many thanks

I think that determines how large the 'default' processing area is on the waveletting tab. In other words, you know how when you change a wavelette setting or brightness, gamma etc and not all of the image changes? I think the processing size just determines how large this area is. In theory it would be best to set a large size when working on an AVI of the moon but set a small size when working on a planetary shot when only a small amount of the actual image is used. (All it should affect is the speed it takes Registax to make the waveletting change in the chosen area, it wouldn't affect image quality).

Then again, I could be wrong

I think Chryssio is right. I leave it default and just use "do all" at the wavelets page.

I never click "Do All"

Do you select that immediately after you've moved your wavelet sliders, Mike?

If you don't click "do all" before you save your image, part of your image won't have had your settings applied to them. It's not such a worry if you are only doing a small Saturn or Jupiter and the alignment area covers the whole planet, but if you are doing luna or solar shots then the outer areas won't be sharpened. Reg 4 asks if you want to do all when you click save image, if you haven't already done so.

Paul's right. The do-all is if your image is bigger than the 512 pixel processing area. For lunar shots, it's a must. If the planet is only 300px wide, no big deal.

As Paul said, Reg4 prompts you to do it when you save.

So yeh, after the wavelets or any other processing in that tab.
