Adhesive for polyethylene foam

Hi All

To all you smart cookies out there.

Any advise on what adhesive to glue polyethylene sheets together?

I think I would prefer a spray version but feel free to talk me out of it.

Im redoing the stupid pick and pluck foam in my telescope cases and heaps of people have suggested PE foam, also I can get my hands on heaps of it from the warehouse at work.

I just need to make sure that it wont outgas and deposit any nastiness onto my optics.

Thanks a million
Chris

Just ordinary PVA wood glue, it sticks everything without harm

I got this stuff called Tiger Grip from Helmar to glue the foam in my pelican cases. Got it from Spotlight. Doesn't melt the foam and once dry it's very strong. Won't come off, you'll rip the foam in other places. It's not unlike PVA glue as Leon mentioned earlier.

Hi Chris,

If you can cut the foam as a nice firm fit i don't think you'll need any glue at all!
If you have to use glue, ordinary pva glue should surfice as Leon said but it's not flexible and might not bond to some foam.
I've used gel contact glue on heaps of other projects but I couldn't find out anything about the out gassing online and takes a few days for the smell to dissipate as well. My case from cases.com.au looks like they've used a type of contact glue around the edges so I let it air out about a week before placing any eyepieces in it.

All good

Thank you Marc and Leon. I'll keep this in mind for the future.
