Astronomy widow

Just wondering if anyone else has heard " I'm an astronomy widow" from their wife/ partner?

My other half has started saying as at the moment I'm on holidays and with the clear skies I've been having here I'm making the most of it. Most nights I haven't gotten to bed till at least 2-3am.

It’s not only the late nights and early mornings , how about the post processing time during the day as well !!!
As I’m retired now my wife is happy I have a “real hobby” but there are times when she would prefer me to give it a break ( which I do ) This hobby for some people becomes an obsession and the focal point of their whole life when everything else becomes secondary. I always aim for a balance between family time , friends , holiday time and the general chores in life. The universe is going no where in a hurry and you enjoy it more when you have a break from time to time and focus on other things
Is there a thing called “astronomical burn out” maybe ??
My 2 cents .......
Cheers

Sounds like me too since Saturday night in Sydney. Not my fault if it's been clear for three nights in a row.

She saying it as a joke, we spend most of our days/nights together. For the moment I'm using what clear skies we have at the moment as I'll be back to work soon and AP gets put on the back burner.
It's all set up now snapping away and I'm on the lounge with my lovely wife.
Thanks for your input Martin, hope you had a great Christmas

Reminds me of a SPSP I attended quite some years ago. Around 2.00 a.m. I was doing the rounds peering through various telescopes as you do and one chap was getting a bit excited about something he had found. I heard him say "come and have a look at this love" and heard nearby a little muffled voice reply " doo I... have... too". I strained my eyes to see one of those big old arm chairs covered in blankets and worked out his dutiful wife was buried somewhere in the folds. She did in fact crawl out eventually to join him in his excitement. I thought that was so sweet and wished my wife was with me at that moment but she had something else on at the time.

My wife loves it when I go out to my observatory (35min drive away) she is very supportive and gets a little excited even!.....because she can then watch all her favourite Netflix series most of which I don't like.....

But the over absorption issue can creep in if you aren't careful, occasionally need to check oneself....
