Rho Ophiouchus region with Sigma lens

Hi all,

after so many positive comments about the Crux image I took with my Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 APO lens I decided to utilise it more so here's another image that I took tonight. It's the Rho Ophiuchi region (I call the long dark spike heading up to Antares 'the finger of God'). I fear I slightly over enhanced it to compensate for bad transparency...

The lens was set to 70mm (x 1.6 = 112mm), f2.8, 19 x 2 minute exposures at 800asa.

I took a heap of images tonight (10 hours astrophotography ) so I'll post some more images on this (and other) sites later today...

Cheers.

Excellent image . Your skills and technique are pretty good. I thought you guys didn't get to see anything as you live in the land of the long white cloud. Oh sorry, that's right the warriors are playing Newcastle this weekend and all the cloud it is over here!

Great shots keep them coming

I've been thinking about getting a sigma lens John. I now think you've just about convinced me. Great shot.

Gary, I think that I should perhaps first get a wife! Any cute astro gals out there?
