Anyone use a tape recorder?

Hi guys, FWIW, when taking your images, how do you record the details? Does the comp./camera do it all?
I use a small tape recorder. Saves having to scrounge around looking for a torch/pen/book etc. Also comes in handy for taking "Snoopy' type info. for your reports/mags. etc. & us oldies with mem...... memor.....memory prob. L.

I have always used a tape recorder for recording observations. I don't do imaging, but taping the descriptive details of what you see while at the eyepiece is far and away the best way of making an accurate record.

Chris

I use a little self contained voice recorder with flash memory built in, no tapes !
Its about the length of a packet of smokes and half as wide. Got it on ebay for about $40.

I've had a small voice activated tape recorder for aboput 5 years and in the last couple of months purchased a microphone which cuts out all the background noise from the wild life and the motor noise from the recorder. Bought from Tandy for about $40;00 five years ago, great dong your observng reports. Regards Ron

I would get sick of hearing my own voice!!!!!

Great idea though.

Confusing example of recording: "Now, up near that little star on the left of Spica, go down to the 3 faint stars then right to the 4 stars that look like a crooked square, then down a bit more, bit more, little bit more, STOP! Now just to the left next to those fuzzy little galaxies is the spiral galaxy and just to the left again over to the next 2 stars and down a bit. Bingo! There it is . . . . . . . Damn, I lost it!!!!
