Ioptron cem120ec: my 'new' workhorse mount, for my AP setup

What do you all think about the new iotpron cem120ec mount?

Like at 120lbs payload and only .15 arcseconds rms pe I figured this is the best mount my money could afford...plus I was already used to the Go2Nova handcontroller from my older cem60 I used to have and practiced-on.

So any advice on this?

Also any advice on either piggyback mounting, or side by side mounting a Celestron RASA, plus an Orion 10" f3.9 newtonian astrograph on this mount

and then what's your advice on putting it all on a Pier Tech 2?

That's what I all, plus cameras and some other stuff, plan to put in my new observatory built in Indiana...I know someday I plan to move to better skies!

Maybe when I get lucky and get a wife, too!

David

I imagine that it would be a good performing mount but I do doubt the 0.15” PE RMS. 0.15” per step resolution yes but not PE RMS. Most premium mounts like Astrophysics or Software Bisque won’t quote a PE below 2” RMS. Even my DDM60 is only quoted at 0.3-0.5” RMS over 5 minutes and I’ve been able to confirm that.

Not sure how the price compares but what about a MESU200?

According to their website, it is $5,500.00 for the CEM120EC ($6,998.00 for the CEM120EC2). AUD: 7,268.91

MESU200 is 4711 Euro. AUD: 7,281.09

Neither would include shipping, but that's a fine "choice" for price comparisons.

Looks like no dealer in Australia for Mesu mounts, while there is for iOptron.

The non encoder version of the CEM120 lists the PE as "< ±3.5 arcsec", so the claim is for the encoders to reduce that to 0.15”, I guess. I am just stating that as I have no idea if it's a valid thing to claim and I can't test it of course.
