Sold – 8” SCT – Celestron C8 and associated equipment

Hi All,

I have decided to part with my beloved C8 – 8” Celestron SCT. So it is up for sale, along with all the gear you will need to get it going. You will need nothing more than some eyepieces (and I can even get you a few spare ones of them if needed).

So for the details, its one of the classic, early 80’s Orange Tube C8s. It has been used regularly and is in good condition for its age, i.e. there are some scratches on the paintwork etc. The optics and RA drive are good and everything is working.

This is a fine scope for people looking to get into a 8” SCT but don’t want the expense of all the modern electronics. It is also fitted with Digital Setting Circles so you kind of have the best of both worlds, rock solid C8 plus electronic subject finding….

Please note there is a small mark on the main mirror, made by the previous owner, it is about the size of ½ your pinky fingernail (i.e. 5mm square) and has no effect on the performance of the scope (at least that I can see).

What you get:

Celestron C8 – 8” SCT – Orange Tube
Associated Tripod and Wedge
Sky Vector II – Digital Computer (Digital Setting Circles)
Orion Dew Zapper
Dew Zapper Variable Power Controller
Orion 1 ½ “ Star Diagonal
Meade 6.3 Focal Reducer
TelRad Unit Pointer
Flexible Dew Shield
Case – Original Blue Case and a new Wooden Case
2 x Field Power Supplies (one for base, one for Dew Zapper)
Inverter for Field Power Supply
Anti Vibration Pads (cheap ones, but they work)

There are also a few miscellaneous pieces that go with it….
Original Finder Scope
Tube Rings and Dovetail – To allow fitting to a Vixen GP or similar GE mount.
1 ½” Star Diagonal – an additional one

Price : $1200 or nearest offer

Note this is big and heavy and not something worth shipping (i.e. local pickup), I live in the South of Sydney.

Any questions just ask.

Cheers

Michael

Oh,

I forgot to add, the closeup of the corrector is trying to show the mark on the main mirror, its the small non silvery mark at about 5pm on the mirrors edge.

Cheers
