Yep, we got one of those too. http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDV65756.shtml

Was massive earlier, but as Leon said, it has settled into nice rain now.

More storms for tomorrow though!!!

This map shows the scary bit!

I have never before seen a front carrying this much lightning!!!! Look out QLD.

The white arrows show the direction the storms are moving. The white crosses are current lightning strikes! Batten down QLD'ers.

Yesterdays paper here in canberra showed hail a metre deep in the southern suburbs....a truly amazing photo!

I was out in that storm for an hour, madly trying to get a tarp over the remaining bare plywood on my dome, then try to push the water off the tarp over the rest of the observatory, before it let go and destroyed all my hard work! The gardens got washed away, but at least i dont have to rake anymore.

Funny thing was, I was only 2 suburbs away from that hail at exactly the same time, soaked to the skin and as warm as toast!!???

Baz.

If you dont mind Harb, what does your wife actually do? was she there to film the storms or for another reason? If you dont want it publicly know, a PM would be ok. My ultimate aim is to do some filming here in SA of various storms and compile them into a short Doco on our storms, so little is known about what we get here I just want people yo know.

Thanks.

No problem Astroman,

I own/operate a Television Outside Broadcast Company, so we find ourselves all over the place doing various things.
Mostly live TV, but on this occassion just recording
Jobs vary in size from 14 cameras down to 1.
We have 9 OB Trucks , which I am cutting back this year to 4......more quality than quantity.......
I'm starting to like my leisure time with my family, and have decided at some point you have to make a choice, and mine is to tighten up and be more organised....more efficient.
It is hard if you have to many irons in the fire if you know what I mean.

My Wife is also in the TV bussiness and Directs etc......
She was out doing some sporting stuff, not storm related unfortunately
But I have to admitt, I would be a very keen storm chaser if I was in the US.......chasing those tornado's must be a rush

cheers

John

Just noted in your profile you are an amateur as well.

Thats where I started basically, as a kid I was facinated buy anything electronic.
Latter as a teenager became and amateur, mainly interested in ATV and building Microwave TV transmission equipment, then went on to become a Broadcast Engineer, which is how I got into TV Production eventually.
Got a Heavy Diesel Mechanic's ticket along the way as well......ha that was a wate of time, won't even change the oil in my car now!!!
To dirty that grease monkey game, and the wages are way to low as well!

Cheers
John
