An Hour with the Crab.

I love holidays, I can set up the scope and leave it then go out for a view whenever the urge takes hold. The skies here continue to be clear and seeing quite good so before turning in went for a view of M1 the crab nebula. First found zeta tauris and then slightly below and left (almost in the same 25mm FOV) there it is! Dont expect too much, it shows as a mass of grey but fairly bright considering the surface area and is easy to see. Power up to the 13mm Nagler, Wow!! And for this viewing the skies allowed the 2X barlow as well(153X) Could even see hints of the filiments with averted vision.
Tomorrow planning to arise early and see again the leo galaxies (love them) and saturn for the first time this season.

Have a safe Christmas everyone!!

Hi Wade,

I always liked the Messiers in Leo because with M65 and M66, and M95,M96, and M105 you can get more than one in a wide field.

Don't forget to pay a visit to NGC2903 at the front of the Lion's Mane, or Sickle.
