FedUp

God damned FedEx - I paid a BOMB to get some Astro-Physics parts here direct from A-P, and it has been scheduled for delivery today since friday (posted Thursday from Illinois).

At 7am, there was an update saying on board, delivery today.

At 9:02, update again to delivery exception "Customer not home or business closed" and to follow instructions for redelivery left on the door tag. O...K.... considering I had been outside all morning cleaning the exterior of the house until 10am, and not a single person - even neighbours - had come or gone from the complex, this was odd. Most assuredly NO tag on the door, nor even the mailbox, so I rang FedEx (India, of course).

Was told he tagged it. Told her no ma'am, no one has come or gone all day, so the driver is not being truthful. She said she would call the Fyshwick depot and get back to me within an hour. OK, back to work on the house and then the car I went.

No call. 4 hours since she was supposed to ring, I called back. Spoke to first Indian lady, who transferred me directly to the worker I had spoken to. She proclaimed that the driver had left a tag. I said in which state, because it is not here, and like I told you, I have been home all day. She said she told the depot that, but they insisted he tagged it. I'd seriously love to know to which house then!!! I asked for redelivery today, and she said that is out of the question, as the driver has many to deliver and cannot get back to me (even though our house is only a short detour from returning to the depot).

She said I could go to the depot t 1730 and get the package. I responded that I paid for a service - DELIVER THE ITEM. I will not do their job for them!

At that point she told me to leave a note about permission to leave on the door, to wit I responded I had already done that at 0600 this morning, so that PROVES the delivery driver did NOT come here. She went silent.

Let's see what tomorrow brings. Just Tom Foolery, and I will be DEMANDING my $60 US refunded for "Express" (??????) postage.

Rant over. Kinda. Maybe.

FedEx... FedUp more like it. Next time I'll just use USPS as usual so at least AusPost can deliver it. (I only went FedEx as they were $8 cheaper than USPS)

Seems like a 'race to the bottom' for service from any of the couriers these days.

Not good at all Lewis ...I'm kinda in the same boat with you.

I ordered a part from OPT ... It was dispatched the very next day by USPS and arrived in Aussie Land 3 days later .... it arrived at Sydney on the 23 June at 8.57am in the morning.....today's date is 3 July ... it's been in Australia for 10 days now.....

Guess what .... I still don't have it

Talk to someone at Fedex HQ but not from the delivery service, go to the marketing dpt and tell them nicely that reflects very bad on their brand given how much money they spend on their image and speed and reliability. You're going to see all sort of sh!t hit the fan and that is going to trickle right down back to the people who brushed you off on the phone. Then sit and watch. I did that with SONY once and it created such an unexpected sh!tstorm for the contractor doing the deliveries, in the end I felt bad for them. (almost)

I feel your pain Lewis...

It's the not knowing that sucks. If they told you the truth about a delay, that would be a lot easier to deal with and work around than just telling you nonsense.

We recently had an item shipped from Sydney to Perth by Star Track "Air Express.".

The promise on the seller's website was in "one business day" (for an extra charge of course....) Hahahah.... hollow laugh...

Now we're only 25ks from Perth airport and next day delivery is perfectly achievable. We've had stuff by midday the next day.

The full story of all the bullsh*t and false info is too boring to relate in detail. But the short version is that it arrived at Perth early the next morning and was listed on the tracking site as "In Transit" by 8.30am. So we stayed in all day.... and the next day too... Nothing.

After being fed a steady stream of cr*p by phone jockeys we learned that it had been "in transit" to Australia Post who then took two days to crawl the final 25ks. It was shipped Monday morning and finally arrived on Thursday. Apparently the word "Express" means "When we get around to it" now.

If they'd said from the start that it would be Thursday... but no.... just turn on the Obfuscator and let the customer stew...

Grrr

I hope your wait won't be much longer.

Aussie Post, or Customs, or somebody, are no better; The last two letters
I received from the U.K. took 6 or 7 days [tracked] to reach Perth,
and 11 and 12 days to get the last 300 kays to me.

It has always been the case that "express" is slower than bog-standard post by at least 2 days. I learnt that in my first job 35 years ago dealing with stuff to Adelaide and Whyalla on a regular basis.

PS FedEx and TNT both were whacked by the latest malware. Patience.

Well, Mr FedUp arrived - at 2032! He admitted his error, claiming he thought the whole complex was the house. HUH???

He said he never ticketed it either.

It's Louie you need to be wary of, not Andrew and I

FedEx have been pretty pathetic in my experiences to, but no worse than any other courier service. The local couriers Aust Post use are the most honest and reliable of the bunch and quickest for actually getting a package in my hands, not just "somewhere in Canberra". I just never bother any more with paying extra for the "fast delivery" options. Just insurance. Why give money to people who wont even try to do their job or just steal.
