Cool Buy new gear and clouds are sure to come!

It's typical! I bought a new pair of binoculars today and now the clouds are rolling in

I broke this theory this week. On Wednesday last week I bought a S&T Pocket Sky Atlas - and the weather last night (Sunday) in Southern Sydney was pretty good! Maybe you just have to wait for four days for the curse to dissipate before you plan to venture out.......

Maybe it all depends on how anxious you are to use your new purchase.

Hi Omaroo, I didn't think that books or magazines counted otherwise there would be a permanent cloud cover across Australia on the 13th of every second month when AS&T comes out.

cheers

Ahh ha! They probably come under "general exemptions" in the Cloud God's Instruction Manual.

Buggers.....

Obviously designed to quell any general rioting amongst the astronomer crowd.....

This theory also works in reverse !

When i sold my first scope, the clouds had stopped me demonstrating on anything other than distant street lights.
The buyer took off with the scope, and 15 min later the sky cleared

The curse is only for optical equipment.........books can be read with cloud cover, testing that new barlow needs clear skies.

In fact it is encouraged to buy books with lots of glossy pix......it adds to the frustration.

Lately all you have to do is think about having an observing or imaging session and the clouds will roll in.

cheers
