Love Is ......

A freshly washed optic

It was time to give the TOA a little bit of TLC.... after a year of dust and dew gathered at Mt Stromlo and out at Bango the business end of the scope was looking decidedly second hand so out with the Jif and scourers ....

(Sorry forgot in my haste to take a before pic of the dew and dust spots )

Edit:
Actually the Jif seemed a bit harsh so I used a camel hair brush followed by unscented Kleenex tissues moistened with some Baader Wonder Fluid. Then a lint free microfibre to polish the 'breathed on' lens.
A couple of stubborn spots were then found and dealt with by a gentle rub with saliva covered fingertip > Purosol > Baader Fluid > Lint Free Cloth....

Great site Julian, thanks. The great thing about the TOA is that if I want to play with it never says no. It never answers back and it doesn't sulk if I take the Dob out the instead..... what's not to love.....

He should bottle it and brand it "astro-wunderbar".

Is this an attempt to objectify my objective?

Nah, that's just Daffy and Porky hacking up after watching Matt lick his objective.

Matt did get his Alsatian involved in the cleaning process:

Ends in "us" but Sirius wasn't the first to come to mind... that alsacian tongue would never get close to my fluorite lens. Never know where it's been.

Obviously mythical. I searched for over 40 years and still get "No!" on a regular basis...

Do you like the Baader Wonder Fluid Matt? I need some more cleaning fluid, so might give it a go. Where do you get yours from? Cheers

Teleskop Express sell it cheap enough - I'm thinking of getting some more in myself having "lost" my prior bottle on the move to CBR (in other words, it's in a box, somewhere...). Also, the Pursol is available in Australia - no need to get it from the US.

And, I am sure Matt would fill a bottle with his saliva for you Allan, FOC. Or just catch it yourself while he drools over your new Dob.
