Going gah gah

So here I sit all departed paid my dime and only far...

Ok so now, still waiting for my ASA N12 and PL11002, sadly
I am resorting to posting images taken by others with their
ASA astroghraphs...bribble...dribble, gah gah.... >8-)

This is a nice one just released by Gerald Rhemann using his ASA N8
(8" F3.8) and FLI IMG6303E CCD camera. It was taken during his
Namibia trip earlier in the year. Unfortunately the seeing was quite
poor (FWHM ~ 5) but I think it still looks quite impressive though.
Gerald mixed 20 min of exposure through an OIII filter to the green
and the blue channel to work out some detail in the center.

Again this is a similar FOV to what my N12 will have using the
larger PL11002 camera but with 50% greater FL and more than twice
the mirror collecting area.

The original image file would be good to look at but here are two
reasonably large jpeg files to get an idea of what these scopes and
cameras can do.

Small (150K)

Large (900K)

Hopefully my ASA N12/FLI PL11002 combination will be here in time to visit IISAC in Jan..?

Mike
..gah gah...

Thats going to be one impresive set up.

Cant wait to see what you can produce imaging at F3.8 with that camera.

Mike,

I have been checking out the ASA and what I would like to know is how do you balance a rig like this with all the camera gear.

Mike

Go find a tranquil setting. Sit down - calmly, and take a deep breath. Close your eyes and with your inner voice, bring peace to your troubled soul. Tell yourself that you are a perfect human being, at one with the universe, complete and have no need for any material goods to fulfil you; you are already whole and complete in yourself; there is nothing missing, only if you think there is.

Now where is that bloody telescope of mine and why won’t these pesky clouds bugger off!

Cheers

Dennis

Hang in there Mike, a cup of tea, a Bex and a good lie down and it will be there sooner than you think.
But with all this cloud and smoke about, you are not missing much.

cheers

Ric, they don't make 'Bex' any more! It'll have to be a 'Vincents'

Geez we are getting old
