Putting aside the 'Face' controversy, the whole of Cydonia does appear to be the ruins of an ancient city or sacred precinct, with pyramids and other structures clearly visible. Perhaps that's just wishful thinking, but if one was to see an aerial view like this on planet Earth, one would almost automatically presume that it was a photo of an ancient ruined city. So why the difference, just because the site is on Mars?
Below is a photo of the greater Cydonia region....the famous Face is near the top right. It looks mightily convincing to me.
