Dust devil damage from the 7th December.

Sent this report in to the Bureau of Meteorology...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

To whom it may concern,

Had a bit of excitement here on the 7th of December 2006. I was tossing up
whether to send this report in or not, but decided to do it as it is damage
caused by a Dust Devil.

This is the report from my wife who witnessed the event.

"My Husband (Andrew) had just hit the shower when I heard a bit of noise. I
thought he was just banging around in the shower and then realised the noise
was coming from above. I looked out our family room window that looks out
onto side fence and the Trees were swaying all over the place.

I then realised the noise was all our tiles on the roof banging up and down.
I grabbed Lachlan our 2 year old son, who was screaming from the noise, as
I really did think we were about to loose our roof. As I was watching out
the window a tile came down and smashed onto the ground. That was when I
yelled for Andrew to get out of the shower.

So yeah had a whirlwind pass over. Wasn't much dust etc involved with it,
and in the process we lost a couple of roof tiles. Was quite impressed that
the clothes remained on the line."

The only thing I witnessed was a plastic bag floating through the air. The
Eastern side of the roof was the only one damaged.

The images supplied are of the tiles damage.

071206_dustdevil_tile_damage_001.jp g is of the tile where it fell, it had
not been moved at this point.
071206_dustdevil_tile_damage_002.jp g is the hole in our roof left by the
missing tile, some fragments of the tile are shown.
071206_dustdevil_tile_damage_003.jp g is a view from above where the tile
fell off, although the tile had been moved from my 5 yo son.

Pretty cool!
