What is everyone doing for New Years?
Hi guys,
just out of interest, what is everyone doing for New Years? I think i'm going to either stay home or watch the fireworks. But then again, might be too packed in the city.

Unfortunately I'm on call for work...
Hopefully I won't BE at work but only time will tell. So if I'm out with mates, it's bound to be a different New Years... watching... rather than participating... but if the weather's good I could always use my on call sobriety as an excuse to decline the festivities and get the scope out... I'll have to wait and see what happens!

I always take the kiddies to see the fireworks. Last year we went with Iceman's family to The Entrance.
This year I am thinking of traipsing into Sydney to show the kids a REAL firework display! Maybe park at Hornsby and catch the train into North Sydney, and walk down to Blues Point. The views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and fireworks from there are sights to behold.
I've never been one for New Years resolutions or lots of drinking and yahooing. A quiet glass of wine or beer with family and good friends, and I am a happy chappy.

I think I am on night shift that night!
Otherwise, we'll spend it like every other New Years Eve. In the complete silence of this town, except for the occasional car horn in the far distance and the sound of someomes party music faintly heard through the hills. But I like it that way.
We usually watch the New Years Eve shows on TV, then right on midnight we go outside and sit in the front yard and soak up the silence. Sounds weird, but that's what we like doing! The kids like it too.

I'll be back in the US visiting family...it will be cold and hopefully snowing...I'll watch a "snippet" of the best fireworks in the world (the news will always lead with the Sydney fireworks) and then proceed to watch some "lame" fireworks on TV from New York...
And wish I was back home in Sydney...

Kee and I will be down at the beach house. Merimbula is a quiet town so not too much will be happening. probably have a few beers on the balcony overlooking the ocean and a bit of a look through the scope.
cheers

I'm one of the lucky ones, I don't work on that day.
For all you special people in the essential services that need to be manned on any Holiday, I thank you all deeply.
I have needed your sevices on these days in the past.
But,
I'll be partying hard, at my friends Tom and Sue's place.
They have the best New Year Eve party.
Tom makes every kind of spirits you can name, and some you can't.
I only drink beer and wine though, funnily enough, so does Tom.
I will be playing music, enjoying great food and drink,(luckily for me my wonderful Wife of 32 years doesn't drink, and does the driving).
Sometimes Fancy dress is a requirement, last year I went as "Frankenfurter" from "Rocky Horror".
It took my best friend and band member 40 minutes before he realised who I was.
I won't post a photo, it will scare the kids.
That was a great night.!!!!!!
This year will be no different I expect.
Mike, age 53...LOL
