Newbie Help - Deep Sky Stacker

Hi All
This is my very first image.
Camera on tripod, 6", F/4.5, 18mm, ISO 3200

Saturn is there somewhere, between Scorpius and Sagittarius.

It is very green!
I stacked 20 jpegs, 20 dark files & 1 bias file. I forgot to do a flat.

Just wondering where to get help on adjusting the histogram in DSS.

Or, is this a complete disaster.

More INFO: Around the edges of the image is a tree canopy. Maybe that's where all the green is coming from?

I don't know what to do next..

Move the centre slider on green down and the centre sliders on red and blue (lower left) up then hit the apply button.
It take a few goes before you get a result you're happy with. Usually the best starting point is to have all three histograms on top of each other but each image is different.

Night Vision

Hi PK
Looks like a military cosmic night ops ...but far from a disaster.
Essentially it is necessary to try and get the green red blue peaks on the histogram more or less lined up (all the peaks roughly in the same area on the histogram). As you can see the green channel is waay to far to the right.
As correctly mentioned by Retrograde you need to adjust the green channel in the image by utilizing the slider function. Don't be afraid to experiment with the sliders in all the color bars until you get a nice result. Always ensure you keep an original file of the pic separately and rename your experimental and post processed pics before saving.
Try color balancing with the sliders first then perhaps try some work on brightness and contrast until you think you have a nice result. I always work conservatively with these and color settings.
I think this will be a nice photo once you have mastered some simple techniques.
Please post an update....we would like to see how its coming along.
If you are experiencing further difficulties then dont hesitate to say so. Help is only a message away.

In the stacking settings tick the box Allign RGB channels. This will do the job for you.
