Messier 16 in SHO... and HOO & Ha

Hi guys !

How are you ?
We would like to show you our last picture: M16
As always, it is taken from our observatory in Atacama.

So, we've made a SHO version of it and also HOO and Ha. Each one has something special and shows something different.
Which one do you prefer ?

Pictures can be seen here with technical informations (full size link on each picture)
SHO - http://www.atacama-photographic-obse...hoto.php?id=75
HOO - http://www.atacama-photographic-obse...hoto.php?id=74
Ha - http://www.atacama-photographic-obse...hoto.php?id=73

See you soon

Beautiful images.
I think the result is too bright & lacking contrast.
I hope you don't mind? -
I cropped the center out &
adjusted the slider using L & also the curves in Photoshop.
My example is here.
Is that better?

cheers
Allan

Wonderful, but perhaps it gives too much emphasis to the background at the expense of contrast in the brighter features.

I love the HST version, so sharp & clear, and beautiful colour palette.
Really nice work!

I also agree with Alpal though, as a quick auto contrast renders the background a tad darker & richer without losing any shadow detail, the resulting image being much more dramatic and three dimensional imo.

Hope you don't mind, I've uploaded a version to show what I mean.

Top stuff guys

Thank you guys !

I agree with what you all said about the treatment...
Alpal, what you've done is great and you example is showing some nice differences I will talk with the guys to see what they think...

Andy, I will say the same think: interesting try !
I don't know if your results are better... I would say stronger, for sure !
The 3 of us prefer usually to be softer than stronger... and stop the curve just before the "to much" point

But, thank you for the tests; we will consider what you said !
