GPS usage question

Apologies if this has been asked before but I have a StarGPS unit which works fine with the Eqmod/CdC set up.

My question is "should I keep it on all the time or just connect it up at the start of a session to sync the time in the Eqmod and CdC"?

EDIT Anyone know how to get Windoze10 to sync with a GPS device as that is a good thing to have..?

Using it with EQMOD, once you have your location and accurate time it shouldn't matter at all. The only reason for keeping it in after that is for accurate time

I also use a GPS with Windows 10 and haven't had any issues.

I'm having probs with the EQMOD not accurately "going to". Thought it could be the time being out on laptop. I'll browse the yahoo group for help.

The time would have to change quite dramatically for it to cause a noticeable foto error.

Yeah, I thought it could be one element of a few which are giving me probs.

How many stars do you need to sync on for a good pointing model?
I put 42 in last night, saved the list, parked, unparked and tried slewing to a star. It was out by degrees.

I found that pretty common type of thing with my EQ6 and TheSkyX. After a Sync it worked perfectly again after that.
