well i was just fiddling around and tried snapping m42 while still low in the sky. its ony about 5x 3sec exposures but you can see a little bit of fluffy stuff in there anyhow. my focus was out too.
might have a go at guiding one day and chuck on my slr
sorry waiting for Striker and tornado33 to get off the floor with that last comment Ving, you know , chucking on the SLR!! They feel very threatened . nice go though
you pickin on me houghy?
thanks. next go i am going to give it more exposure... i was just mucking about with this one. i wasnt even well aligned.
not at all, just laughing, be like me taking a deep deep sky shot or worse still, going for a planetary image. I have heaps of room for improvement, but at least you have done it! more than I can say
You've managed to show the Trapezium very nicely, for such a meagre exposure and your half hearted attempt whilst "fiddling around". I'd hate to see what you can do when you are serious.
I think you need heaps more exposures to get more nebulosity-can you go 30 seconds? if not maybe you could stack 100 or 200 such short images ?would be interesting to see what would come out
Ving, you are a brave soul, and have very kind friends at the forum
Not one of them said the image was dreadful.
I salute your efforts too, because i also produce shocking images of DSO's
Hi Ving, it's a start and that's better than no start. I lost count of the number of times I pressed the delete button rather than the save button when I first started.
It's the thrill of the chase that keeps you coming back for more.
hey, i am working with a lpi here. its not cooled and does a max of 15 sec exposures.
well maybe 100 of these fifteen sec exposures then may do the job
the problem is then going to be stacking them-unless you have perfect polar alignment there will be rotation between the first and last image and registax etc wont handle this well
be afraid-be very afraid-I see IRIS in your future
Yep, It'll come, as Ric says we all deleted more than we saved or posted at first
It's a start and i reckon that bug has got a hold already.
would be interesting to see more stacked but i expect you will be limited ultimately by the length of exposure. I 'd say see how close you can get to a minute exposure.
Hi
I tried some imaging with the LPI as well when I first got my LX90 - theres a couple of pics here http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/calleja/. I got the bug straight after the 1st image appeared on the screen.
I think the LPI saturates (hence the big blobby trapezium) and as you said has a 15 sec max exposure - but I think it's a pretty good planetary cam and easier to use for planets than the DSI
