Should i feel bad,? after being so hyped up at Snake Valley with some great viewing down there, i came home, put the gear in the shed, cleaned the car, went back to work and i still haven't set the scope up or taken the binocs out of the case. I'm a bad boy, i shouldn't be like this..

I haven't either, my excuse is there been some serious smoke haze as well as cloud cover everynight since.
Still soon be full moon, should get some clear skies then.

I haven't done any observing through a scope since either. Just been too busy.
But why not unfold a chair in the backyard and check out the moon in the nockies or naked eye even? Even if it's just to relax for a few minutes.

Gee Peter, Last Saturday night was one of the best we've had for ages, 9/10 seeing, 4/5 transparency, what more could you ask for?
Even Mick's 18 was holding 480x rock solid. Didn't have enough Mag to try any higher. Don't you hate that?
Maybe you better tell them at work you can't work the Saturday night closest to the new moon anymore.

First venture to dark skies
Hi,
Well, I am only just beginning at this game, and after some time in my Southern Sydney backyard learning all the constellations like I am supposed to do, I got a great opportunity to take my 8" Bintel Dob (+ Televue, 9mm, 15mm, 25mm, and 32mm Plossls) to Tea Tree Flat via Kandos.
What a difference!! Only trouble was, nothing looked the same and I could not navigate at all. Where has Grus gone???? What's that, wasn't there before (Tarantula Nebula)?
After a while, and much confusion, we got going. Good thing Jupiter was there. However I was a bit the reverse to the other posters here, retreated to Sydney, ah, now I know what's what.
Another visit out of the city needed.
Geoff

Sorry Pete and the rest.
I guess the dark sky here has put you off trying to observe in light pollution
But I know exactly what you mean. I haven't observed since camp either! I went to work the night Camp finished and I have been too exhausted every night since (when I wasn't on night shift!)
Also, the sky has been as clear as glass every night since Camp.
I can guarantee next time I'm fit enough to set up and do some observing, the clouds will finally roll in
